How did it get its title?
When I look at this painting, I see the bright yellow of September’s back-to-school busses and the bold change of hot summer to cooling fall in the dark red and pink.

What do I love out this piece?
I love the way the white mixes with red and yellow to create a sweet orange-y magenta. And the way the yellows and pinks flow gently remind me of the first leaves that lose their season’s chlorophyll, preparing for winter. I also love the way the deep veining in the bottom is so pronounced and how the top scrape reminds me of a fresh, variated tulip.
