How did it get its title?
When I look at this painting, I see the dark blue of society waking up as we are ready for winter to be finished–we see the hopeful blue, but the white snow lingers and even threatens to fall again! March marches in like a lion and it makes a statement. The bold blue next to the stark white makes a statement, too.

What do I love about this piece?
I love how powerful the creamy white is on the left of both scrapes. It’s only a small amount of white, but the contrast next to the blue and green is magnified. There’s a playful thick-veined-ness in the areas of lifting up the paint, too, that I love.
