How did it get its title?
When I look at this painting, I see the heat of the summer that remains while the color of the trees transform from summer to fiery hillsides in northern Minnesota. October is one of the best times to see fall leaves up here.

What do I love out this piece?
I love how the white in the top left subtly softens the bright red, but then the negative space in the bottom right echoes the lightening colors. I also love the little spots of yellow that pop out in the top scrape. This piece feels alive to me, like the hills in autumn.
