How did it get its title?
When I look at this painting, I see the gentle warmth of the start to mild Minnesota summer vacation days.

What do I love out this piece?
I love the thick lift up of paint in the top one–it feels so tangible visually that I want to grab it. I also love how well the colors of paint blended together in the bottom and has significant movement in the semi-symmetrical veining. The tiniest bit of blue through the middle of both squares feels really special–like, it’s drawing you in to look closer at a bird flying, or a tree in the distant field, or how a faraway object blurs when you’re cruising on a road trip.

*I love how well this piece works as part of a trio arrangement, together with “2 June Sunshine” and “3 June Sunshine.”
